Program Description:
This program includes a travel abroad experience involving the comparison of education in the United States and Indonesia. Students will discover how education looks in the unique Indonesia setting.  This program will examine the influence of the culture on teaching and learning within schools in the Jakarta area. Students will participate in a variety of planned experiences in schools along with key cultural exhibits to gain a deeper understanding of the history and culture of Indonesia.


Students who successfully complete the full experience will receive 15 Convo credits. Successful completion includes attendance and participation in three pre-trip planning meetings, writing two lesson plans on assigned topics, preparing a brief paper on an assigned topic related to Indonesian culture and participating in all trip activities in Indonesia.
 
Criteria:
Preference given to juniors and seniors.
Preference given to students who have completed either EDUCATION 300- Intergarted Arts-Elem Classroom or THEA 360- Creative Drama .  Students who have not had one of these courses may substitute significant experience working with children in a teaching environment.  Please describe in your application.
Must include a letter of recommendation from Samford professor.

October 1        Submit application, copy of passport and $500 deposit 
November 1    Submit $500 payment 
December 15 Submit remainder of fees that are due
