Program Description:
Experience the rich cooking traditions of Costa Rica as you participate in this study of Costa Rican language, culture and cuisine.  You will savor the mélange of African, Spanish and Caribbean influences flavored by tropical roots, grains, spices, oils, sauces, fruits and vegetables that make Costa Rican food so unique.  From our base at the Conversa Language School in Santa Ana, we will explore the country from coast to coast, visit farms and Costa Rican families, browse through local markets, sample Tico restaurants and participate in Costa Rican home cooking. You will fill your senses with the “sabor” flavor of Costa Rica!  No Spanish proficiency is required.  Each student will enhance their individual language skills whether beginner or fluent Spanish speaker by living with a “Tico” family and taking Spanish classes each morning.

**Important Note: Samford University subsidies non-London study abroad programs with 70% of the tuition paid for the course. For this program, the amount of $2,775 is subtracted from the program cost of $3,925. If a student withdraws from the course before departure or participates in the program without registering for the course, they will be responsible for the full program cost.
