Program Description:
500 Years of Reformation
Samford in Germany 2016
July 1 - 11, 2017
In Summer 2017, Dr. Angela Ferguson, Director of the German Program at Samford, will be co-leading an alumni and friends of Samford tour to central Europe in order to explore the history of the Protestant Reformation, which is said to have begun on October 31, 1517, when Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the door of the castle church in Wittenburg, Germany.  She will be accompanied by Dr. Jason Wallace (History and Core Texts), Dr. Scott McGinnis (Religion) and Dr. Mike Ledgerwood (World Languages), who will each give lectures on topics related to the Reformation in central Europe and its impact over the last 500 years.  If you (or your family) would like to take part in the tour, you can register at the EF Tours website.

Dr. Wallace and Dr. McGinnis will also be offering this tour as part of a Summer I course.  Students will complete the Summer I portion of the work online, and the course will culminate in the tour.  Students can earn 4 hours of SU credit in History (upper-level) or Religion (upper-level).  This course can also be used to fulfill the Gen. Ed. Humanities requirement. If you would like to register for this trip for course credit, please click the "apply" button above.
