Program Description:

Samford in India

July 9 - August 10, 2018

Experience the wide variety of regional and traditional cuisines of India as you participate in this study of the diversity of culture, languages, ethnic groups, religions, and food habits. Savor the whole palette of flavors from exotic ingredients, explore spice plantations and tea estates, and interact with food technology faculty and students in India. We will start our journey from Kochi in Kerala State (South India), aptly described as “God’s Own Country”; visit Kodungallur, the cradle of Christianity in India, where St. Thomas, the apostle of Jesus Christ landed in A.D. 52, and travel through Coimbatore, the Manchester of South India, visit Kolkata (Good News Children’s Education Ministry and Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity), and finally travel to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, before returning to the US.
